1. Water Management

Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful.

Only 3% of the world’s water is freshwater, and two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use.

Around 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water, and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year. Inadequate sanitation is also a problem for 2.4 billion people—they are exposed to diseases, such as cholera and typhoid fever, and other water-borne illnesses. Two million people, mostly children, die each year from diarrheal diseases alone.

More than one in every six people in the world is water stressed, meaning that they do not have access to potable water. Those that are water stressed make up 1.1 billion people in the world and are living in developing countries.

4. Zero Liquid Discharge

Limited resources and serious issue of water pollution ZLD is gaining a lot of importance.

With regards to Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) by industries, government has already directed industries to achieve ZLD in distillery, tannery and textile units as it was mandatory that pollutants like chromium, total dissolved solid and other chemicals are separated before they are disposed of. Industries are not allowed to put up their plants unless they have installed ZLD system.
